The Truth About Salt

In this video, I discuss salt and its consumption. The general results of these studies are typically opaque at best with too many extraneous factors. Corporate donors and government interference...

    Great video but one glaring issue is that they’re not following in the steps of elon. Elon fired so many twitter staff because he took out billions in loans to buy an already unprofitable company. The same reason why he stopped paying their corporate lease. Other CEOs are getting rid of the “farm hires” but it’s not because of Elon.

      @JoshChristiane 2 дні тому

      I can't say if it's better, but it is definitely cheaper and you get that extra .2 aperture size. Panasonic lenses are generally good, but I've always found them lacking by comparison to other brands. Sigma were always my favorite for photography because they're priced well, and you feel like you're getting a lot of quality objectively. I am willing to pay for heavy and robust feeling lenses.

    • @JoshChristiane
      @JoshChristiane 3 дні тому

      I think it is sharper and slightly more contrasty than the Canon. It also has more lens elements and glass internally so it likely handles corrections better. My experience with both is anecdotal since I haven't tested both side by side. But it seems as good or better for less money. It feels more solid too, particularly because it's a metal body and more compact.

    Beautiful photos! I'm really impressed by the sharpness and the excellent handling of low light. Having been there and seen where the photos were taken, I know you're not kidding when you say those museum shots were in low light. I had to squint and had a hard time reading things when I toured that exhibit. It's amazing how much detail and light is captured in these shots and during editing you're able to pull a lot of that out from the raw image. I've done photo shoots with just phone cameras before in a pinch, but seeing these photos, I can see the benefit of using a professional level camera and high quality lense. You were able to capture moments that will truly be treasured forever. Thanks for sharing more of the photos on Flickr. For others viewing, keep in mind you have to download the photo to see the real quality and detail. Flickr only displays a lower resolution version on the surface. These photos are so crystal clear. I don't know how you could get sharper detail on the points of focus.

    Well it sounds like an intriguing lens. I've always been partial to 50mm and have found over the years that they seem to have the best versatility and robustness as an overall lens. I actually like the heavier solid feel of a metal lens as opposed to plastic. There's a certain amount of comfort there knowing that the build quality won't let you down. Tech CEOs by and large are using other people’s money, so of course they would want to bloat the expenses, until of course they fail to make money. Again Musk acquired Twitter to expand on his failed Crypto Doge scam. Why he agreed to pay $44bn and now is worth like $17bn…😂 Musk is not a good example, what has he done to better the world for humanity as he always boasts? All his products and bad services are redundant. Also Musk is over-leveraged to the hilt. EV market is crashing etc..etc…

    • @JoshChristiane
      @JoshChristiane 7 днів тому

      I don't disagree with you, lol. A lot of tech companies and CEOs are basically scamming people. High level white collar wool. I think Elon is an idealist at heart, but that doesn't always pan out to quality products delivered as promised. Elon didn't create Doge and I'm unsure if he ever actually owned any, but he promoted it really hard so it wouldn't surprise me. I was never a fan of those garbage coins. Elon also massively overpaid for Twitter. At best it was worth 20b at time of purchase, and he paid more than twice that. With how much botting happens on social media it wouldn't surprise me if it was far less active than advertised. I've worked in tech my entire adult life, and I've seen so many scams I'm basically disenchanted with everything in the industry now.

There are plenty of UI/UX and design jobs, but the market is just saturated so you have to stand out. If you have no criminal record you have a huge hand up over other candidates for government work. Usually USAjobs.gov has a bunch of listings you could look through, I've had friends have success on that site. You could also look into video game interface design as I see listings for that frequently. But don't be surprised if you apply to 1000 jobs with no callbacks, a HUGE percentage of job listings right now are fake, and your resume never gets read. Companies post fake listings to make their business look like it's healthy, and growing, when in reality they're doing secret layoffs and stalled hiring entirely. Stalling hiring is a death note for companies, so they FAKE hiring through a bunch of fake listings. This is a horrible phenom happening right now, so don't take it personal. A piece of advice here is to skip LinkedIn and Indeed, they're horrible for finding work. But rather when you find a listing, figure out who the hiring manager is at that company and find their email and socials. Then email them privately on your own, separate from the listing, and ask them kindly if you could apply for that position by sending them your resume in an email. That works SO much better. Another piece of advice would be to hire 3 or 4 recruiters, most will work for free since the finder fee is paid by the company. So you could have 3 or 4 guys full time working to find you a job and a right fit. Having a good recruiter is like having a good lawyer, you don't want to represent yourself in court, you want a third party vouching for you. I hope you can find some great work soon :)

      @@JoshChristiane Thanks so much Josh! Yes, my step-dad was a programmer and often told me to try it. I never really showed much interest, but was thinking that I should understand logic. Later, for my web dev school I did HTML/CSS okay, not too easy, but sitting on my but for hours at the time gave me some understanding. Unfortunately for me, I got caught up by the COVID when I was taking these classes and then abruptly we had to switch to an online format. The quality of lecturing went down quickly. My teacher became scared of the pandemic (he thought it was the end of the world literally) and on some days we had no virtual classes or no one to respond to our emails. And then JS came in to the play. This is where I realized nope, can't do it. So I switched to what's called "Digital Media" and continued to take IDF classes and Google UX Certification. FAKE HIRING is crazy! Thanks for your PSA on these, I'm sure a lot of people are learning about these shady tactics from your vids. Big thanks for your time and efforts to help me and alike newbs. Thanks for the responses and links! I will look at USAjobs and will investigate about the recruiters, a few other people also suggested it to me. But I was thinking Linked recruiters. Where else can I find those that can be hired? Thanks again, I would like to get connected on Linkedin with you and follow for more great knowledge! One more thing I wanna share here, in public. When I started my full career change in 2019, one of the motivators for me was the thought that I've heard (now a little less) that the community in UX/UI is amazing about helping and supporting each other. I've heard that professionals are helping each other and treat each other with dignity and respect (something I was lucking badly working for corporate America at that time). Your time and willingness to help guys like me is a reminder about the fact that this still happens in IT/UX/UI community. For the last 6-7 months I had a mentor (ADPList) who was freely helping me to fill the gaps and build my portfolio case. She spent hrs and hrs with me on the zoom and gave me real-world knowledge and skills. I'm really thankful that this community still exists!! maks

    Can anyone suggest an easy to start software for Diablo style game ? Majority of the time would go into graphics.

    • @JoshChristiane
      @JoshChristiane 8 днів тому

      Godot for sure. If we are talking isometric with really advanced graphics then Unreal is the best decision. But anything simpler and I'd use Godot, it's basically built for games like that. 2.5D stuff is excellent in Unity as well... But I'd avoid it personally. That's just me though.

      I hope you find the perfect fit. For now you could do mini prototype builds and test each engine out and see what is the best workflow for your way of thinking. Some people just love ECS and can't get away from modularity.

    That's why it's good to stay in core programming.. back in the day systems programming. Real time process control etc were considered core... Storage and disaster recovery..

    It would be grand if you could mention at least a ballpark of the price, is 20$/kg expensive, or am I looking on the fraud? You mentioned it should be expensive, but "expensive" could mean anything really for those who unfamiliar. I assume in France or EU it's should be cheaper than in US, but having at least some estimation would be nice.

    • @JoshChristiane
      @JoshChristiane 9 днів тому

      Great point. Most of my viewers are international so I tend to avoid USD pricing, but for this video it would really be helpful. Though an exact price is really difficult to estimate since there are so many factors to consider. Your location, the location the salt was mined, the brand of salt, the exact pond extraction (and time), how much you're buying (bulk, or partitions). But as a general rule good Fleur de Sel in the USA should cost around $30-$50 per pound. In France you might only pay $10 USD per pound being that wages are lower there and the product is local. San Francisco Salt Co. makes a decent FDS for around $25 a pound, that's what I've always bought in the past. Their salt is mined from the Guérande Salt Marshes, then imported for packaging. You can find LOTS of fake Fleur de Sel on Amazon for like $5 a pound, which is either really low quality, or more likely just sea salt being repackaged as FDS. Thanks for the useful comment and watching!

    I agree. As a programmer, AI pretty much takes snippets of code and glues it together. Though appearing accurate I find it inaccurate in complex cases .. then repeats the same answer. AI doesn’t know anything UNTIL YOU ASK

    • @JoshChristiane
      @JoshChristiane 9 днів тому

      That's exactly right. Whenever I use it for anything code related that becomes very clear very quickly. It does not truly have contextual understanding, and when it gets those code snippets wrong it has a very hard time (if at all) fixing the issue. It usually just repastes other broken code until it's a big mess.

    Not sure how you can deliver that entire dissertation without addressing outsourcing to India?

    • @JoshChristiane
      @JoshChristiane 9 днів тому

      Because outsourcing has been happening for 20 years in tech. It's not news and everybody already knows about it. It's a factor, but it doesn't explain all of these sudden and rampant layoffs on its own. It's a multi-faceted issue.
